IRCTC cell to monitor catering

Patna: Buoyed by the railway ministry’s decision to authorize it to serve food and snacks to passengers on all premier trains, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is likely to introduce a centralized catering monitoring cell (CCMC) at New Delhi to maintain food quality served on running trains. Railways has introduced a toll free number, 1800111321, to get feedback or register complaint in case of passengers’ grievances.According to IRCTC senior manager Sandip Dutta, catering monitoring cell will function in zonal and divisional level centres to maintain a round-the-clock surveillance on the quality of food. “Railways has already introduced a defined quality assurance programme under which passengers are to give feedback about the quality of meals served to them on running trains,” he said.Besides, railways has also introduced an interactive voice recording system (IVRS) on select trains to record passengers’ opinion about the quality of food served to them on running trains.
